El Jadida

Shane and Walid seem to have taken port in El Jadida South West down the coast a bit from Casablanca.

Casablanca refuses to accept luxury yachts such as the gryphon into port, thus the change of location.(rumor has it)

So has anyone heard from them since they landed? Did they drive to Casablanca?

This is Craig. I've not heard a word yet, no emails or phone calls.

Judy, how about you?

I last heard from Shane after they left Maderia & were a day out, making them a day away from Casablanca, he said. They had no winds the first day, but when he called, they had 30 mph winds and were moving right along. Their plans were to stay in Casablanca a night or two, then head for Valencia. They were going to stay a night or two there and then take the boat up the coast to another port where Walid would leave it for sale. They were enjoying fresh fruit and lots of goodies from Maderia. They were getting tired of pasta, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and dried provisions. I haven't gotten e-mails or phone calls since then. Now, don't worry a mother with stories of pirates! (Actually, I confess; I started that rumor!) I talked to Craig tonight and their boat is still transmitting. (At least the pirates didn't take it to the high seas.) Craig tried their phone, and no luck. If anyone knows anything else, write a comment. Judy

I spoke with Shane on Sunday at around 5 PM EST. The phone reception was horrible but it sounded like they had arrived in port and found security to watch the boat. They were planning to hire a cab for the following day and tour the city. He said they would be there for about 2 days. Brent

Just spoke with a bunch of hotels, the police, customs, and finally hit upon Hotel Ibis 212-23-37-95-00, where Walid and Shane stayed when they arrived. They left yesterday morning from the hotel, but the guy didn't know where they were heading.

At least we know they arrived well and were not arrested on the spot. If i have more info, i will post. Continuing to make calls in french...

I just spoke with someone on the port, who can see the Gryphon. He's going over to see if they're there, and i will call him back in 5 mins. 212-23-34-03-67. He doesn't see movement, so i wouldn't be too excited, but you never know!

I will kill them myself.

Walid casually picked up the phone, he'll call me back, he's in the middle of a phone session with his girlfriend.

They didn't bother calling any of us!

In any case, they're safe, they're happy, they'll call soon.

Just spoke with Shane. They spent one night in El Jadida, then headed up to Marakesh, where they spent the last two days, they're now on the road back, about one hour from El Jadida.
They'll spend tonight on the boat, leave first thing in the morning, head across Gibraltar, Shane will probably catch the train from there to make his flight while Walid head to Barcelona where he can get a better deal for the boat. All this to say, "Alive and well" (until i get my hands on them at least!)
